MARUTI WILL BRING in a funky little Ignis, which, with its unique styling and long features list, is sure to be a hit with young car buyers. Something like a rival to the Mahindra KUV100, it is the third model that will retail out of Maruti’s Neva showrooms (the other two being the S-cross and the Baleno).
At an estimated starting price of Rs 5 lakh, it is also going to be the most affordable ‘premium’ model from the carmaker. True to its positioning, the Ignis gets an upmarket interior with a dual-tone dash. It features a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and comes with new switchgear and a new multi-function steering wheel. To make the already feature-packed car more attractive to buyers, Maruti will also throw in a host of customisation and personalisation options.
Maruti has paid special attention to safety on the Ignis. It will come with AES and airbags as standard, and is also compliant with side-impact and pedestrian protection regulations. This lightweight mini-crossover will be powrered by Maruti’s peppy l.2-litre petrol and l.3-litre diesel engines, both of which will be offered with the option of an AMT.
