THREE-CYLINDER PETROL ENGINE PLUS ELECTRIC MOTOR
The super hybrid with a hard roof made its debut in 2014, and the Spyder variant, as we’re assured it will be called, was expected to follow soon after. Since then we’ve been teased with concept version sat motor shows and geek fests like the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas, where the latest i Future Interaction concept was displayed.
Finally, though, 2017 should be the year the Spyder hits our roads, with a slightly shorter wheelbase, more power and a few visual tweaks to freshen up the whole i8 brand. You can expect a zero to 100km/h dash in the low four-second range, a fuel-economy figure that would embarrass a Toyota Prius and the kind of visual impact you could otherwise only achieve by wearing a zebra on your head.
