Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coupe

A highly effective relationship that spans out well over a five-decade time period is luxury automaker Aston Martin and Italian-based design house Zagato.

With the 1960 DB4 GT Zagato being the first to emerge from the dynamic duo, the exhilarating Vanquish Zagato Coupe was recently unveiled at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como, Italy just this past May. Known as the fifth supercar to transpire from this established collaboration, the Zagato Coupe, much like all of the others before it, melds the bespoke sophistication and performance of Aston Martin along with the artistic design language of Zagato.

Sleek, curvaceous and slender, the exterior is everything one has come to expect from the prolific pair. Crafted entirely from large one-piece carbon-fiber panels, the frame exposes a clean, smooth finish with the noticeably reduced split lines. Glasshouse blankets the body like a visor, enhancing it’s aggressive stance, albeit with an air of refinement. Embracing the best in design cues from its long line of predecessors, the Zagato Coupe inherits accentuating elements from proven winners in a sinister semblance all its own.

Using the same bladed LED technology as that of the Aston Martin Vulcan, the mirrors closely resemblue those used on the One-77, while the sculptural rear side with its retractable spoiler and rear hatch mimics the DB11’s elegant aerodynamic profile. A classic side strake hits the door from the wheel arch as was originally found on the celebratory CC-100.

Endorsing an early Zagato trademark from that of 1950s, the roof features the iconic “double-bubble”, with its shallow radius bleeding into rear window – all pointing to an effectively rear silhouette.

The lavish interior also embodies the fine tradition and craftsmanship tied to the Aston Martin ethos. Herringbone carbon fiber stars alongside anodized bronze and optional aniline leather to up the appearance ante on the facia, vents, and rotary dials. Rounding out the striking interior cabin is the signature ‘Z’ quilt pattern stitch found on the seat and doors; while the custom Zagato ‘Z’ emblem makes its way onto the headrest and center console.

Marking a new chapter in the Aston Martin/Zagato storyline, the new Vanquish Zagato Coupe is starting to ratify itself as a noteworthy addition to this famed lineup. With only 99 models set to hit the production floor, rarity, alongside performance and class, all play into the hands of this masterpiece. A promising evolutionary step forward for all involved. The new breed of supercar will surely lead this legendary alliance into the future.
